The adidas Originals Samba is a legendary shoe that has been winning more and more fans around the world for over 50 years. Contrary to popular belief, however, the Samba was neither developed for the World Cup nor inspired by the Brazilian dance of the same name. The foundation stone for the shoe was actually laid at a football match in Germany in the 1950s. As the shoe offered exceptional slip resistance despite the icy football pitch, it was given the nickname ‘Samba’.
